General Description:
San Ramón Rural Electrification Project displaces electricity produced by
diesel generators
with natural gas fuelled generators. Thus, reducing the
emission of greenhouse gases
(GHGs) and improving the power generation and
distribution in the North Chiquitania
region of Santa Cruz.
The project has a cumulative capacity of 2.880 kW, three groups based on gas
with 960
kW. It has MT lines of 153 km and BT lines of 130 km. It
establishes 2,800 connections that
benefit about 14,000 households, which is
the half of the population of the area. The
energy produced is 9,000 MWh/year
and the energy service started on April 2000.
Project lifetime:
40
years.
Accreditation period:
21
years.
Baseline Methodology:
Indicative Simplified baseline and monitoring for selected small-scale CDM
project activity
categories. Type III – Other Project Activities; Category
III. B Switching fossil fuels
Version 7 of AMS-III.B Switching fossil fuels.

Estimated Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Reductions:
Total estimated reductions: 45,574 t CO2e
Annual average: 2170.2 t CO2e
Project Benefits:
The project allows non stop and reliable energy provision.
The project replaced a fragmented system of low voltage small plants.
San Ramon has created a significant potential for the economic growth and
the social
development of the region
The project reduces the GHG emissions due to the use of natural gas for
generation’s
purposes.
Total Project cost estimate:
1st Phase: 815,000 US$
2nd Phase: 1,545,000 US$
3rd Phase: 4,120,000 US$
Total: 6,480,000 US$
Current Status:
The project disposes of the Note of Interest. The PDD is done and the
bolivian government
issued the National Letter of Aproval on 27/2/2007.
